Our system is ideal for retaining walls 600mm up to 1200mm. Using strong steel posts set in concrete gives you a narrow retaining wall, ideal for where space is limited.
The modular layout has over 50 different panel sizes to choose from, this enables you to build corten retaining walls that suit almost any location.
Corners are acheived by one of two methods. The first is to use a corner joiner, which allows two flat panels to join together at a variety of angles. The second method is to use a corner panel, which a large panel that contains a corner, either using an angle or a curve.
Our corten retaining wall system is DIY friendly and all parts come pre drilled ready to install with no special tools required. You should not need to do any cutting or welding of the corten.
Generally the retaining wall pile hole depth is equal to the height of the retaining wall. However in softer soils or walls supporting sloping ground, driveways, or buildings, the post and pile retaining wall method solves this by adjusting the post spacings and pile depths.
It is essential that all retaining walls have adequate drainage to avoid issues caused by the buildup of hydrostatic pressure. Backfilling the wall with a free draining material is recommended. A drainage pipe can also be installed behind the wall to ensure water is removed from the backfill. This is particularly important in areas with high rainfall or clay soils. The drainage pipe should be installed at the base of the wall and have a fall to a suitable outlet. The drainage pipe should be covered with a geotextile fabric to prevent the pipe from becoming blocked with silt.
To maximise longevity, it is recommended that steel in contact with the ground is coated with bitumen paint. This will prevent the steel from rusting and ensure a long life for your retaining wall.
The corten capping is 215mm wide, and installed easily using M10 stainless steel bolts (supplied).
The corten retaining wall system can be used without capping. When doing so, it is recommended that the top of the posts are dropped below the top of the panels so that they will not be visible in the completed wall
For designs that include multiple terraces, the 2 to 1 rules applies. This means that the width seperating the two terraces should be at least twice the height of the lower wall. If the seperation is less that this, the two walls are deemed related, and the lower wall will need to be stronger to take the laods from the upper wall
